I’ve been looking for a way to make my son’s nursery look more like a toddler room now that he is growing up. When I came across the amazing DIY projects over at the “I Like That Lamp” website, I knew that making a custom lampshade would be the perfect detail for his room. Since he loves all things superhero, I immediately purchased some superhero fabric for it.
The steps I followed were exceptionally quick and easy!
I first ironed my fabric to make sure there were no wrinkles.
Then I placed it face-down and applied the adhesive styrene on top.
Next, I trimmed the fabric leaving half an inch overhang on all sides (except on one of the short sides) so that I could attach the lamp rings to the styrene later.
When I was done trimming, I glued the fabric overhang on the short side, to the styrene.
The next step was rolling the styrene into a cylinder and attaching the butterfly clips on both ends of the cylinder to keep it in place.
Lastly, I added the two lampshade rings and used tacky glue on the overhanging fabric to secure the rings to the styrene edge.
I am so excited with the results and I can’t wait for my little one to see it! I know he is going to absolutely love it!!
